Abstract

The power grid is more penetrated with green energy resources to minimize the whole pollution. The major contributor of the green energy is wind farm and it is modelled with the asynchronous generator with STATCOM and Hybrid FACTS devices. The system is simulated in three parts. First part deals with without Compensators, Second with STATCOM and last part is with Hybrid compensator. In all three parts of the case study the prime focus is on the analysis is to obtain the voltage and current harmonics for both resistive and inductive loads as well. The first case results have been presented without any compensator and the THD content of voltage harmonics as well as current harmonics is extremely high and unacceptable. The second- and third-part results have been presented and compared on the minimization of THD content and in both parts these compensators quite effective in mitigating these voltage as well as current harmonics. Finally, the hybrid compensator is somewhat superior to that of the STATCOM.
