Abstract

A significant development in the global energy sector, the incorporation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into power plant operations aims to improve sustainability, efficiency, and dependability. This review carefully explores current AI applications used in power plants and evaluates their effects in these important domains. We examine various AI solutions targeted at optimizing intricate operational processes in power plants through an extensive examination of the literature. We present a comparison of cloud-based and non-cloud-based AI systems, such as Cloud Machine Learning (CloudML), Tiny Machine Learning (TinyML), and Mobile Machine Learning (MobileML), emphasizing their benefits and drawbacks. This review provides a thorough understanding of the present and potential future states of AI technologies in this crucial industry sector. It does this by summarizing the applications of AI in power plant and assessing their performance metrics in terms of bandwidth usage, data privacy, system reliability, and economic viability.
