Abstract

Although its manufacture is subject to advanced technology, the bearing is not immune to damage that hinders its proper functioning in rotating machines. The flaking defect is the precursor of its destruction and the detection of this mechanical anomaly, as soon as it is pronounced via the Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) of the vibratory signal, does not prevent the noise signals and the interference of harmonics that drown the frequency signatures of aggressive defects. To overcome this difficulty, we recommend the application of the Hilbert Envelope Analysis Method (HEA) and the Fast Kurtogram Demodulation Method (FKDM), for the earlier detection of faults caused by small periodic shocks on the bearing balls. The results of this research show that the two approaches used in this paper effectively contribute to the extraction of bearing degradation characteristics of bearing Components and could surely be applied to their diagnosis.
