Abstract

Due to its effective contribution to resolve many problems and its positive impact on distribution systems, great attention has been paid to DG during the last decade. In this paper, an efficient approach based on a newly developed metaheuristic that is the Water Cycle Algorithm (WCA) is adopted for the Optimal Incorporation of Distributed Generation (OIDG) in radial distribution systems (RDSs) for real power loss reduction, voltage stability enhancement and voltage profile improvement. Various case studies containing up to two different objective functions are investigated. The methodology adopted in this paper is carried out on the standard 33-bus, 69-bus and 85-bus distribution test systems. Some interesting results are also discussed in this paper. © JES 2020. on-line: journal.esrgroups.org/jes.
