Gain And Bandwidth Enhancement Using Array of Rectangular Microstrip Slotted Patch Antenna for 5G Applications

Abstract
In this work an antenna is designed which is resonating at 30.25 GHz frequency. The size of the rectangular patch antenna is 21 mm23 mm. The rectangular patch has two U slots. Various parameters such as S-parameters, gain, bandwidth, radiation pattern and voltage standing wave ratio are evaluated. The return loss of the antenna obtained is -27.233 dB. Better impedance matching is found as compared to a single rectangular patch antenna. The single antenna gain is 8.97 dB and the radiation pattern of the antenna is unidirectional. The frequency bandwidth range of the proposed array antenna is 27.82 GHz - 33.47 GHz. Further with a center frequency of 30.64 GHz, a 22 array antenna is designed whose gain is enhanced up to 12.97 dB. The proposed array antenna is designed to improve the gain and bandwidth of rectangular microstrip slotted patch antenna.
