Abstract
Multimedia mining, a vital yet complex topic in computer science, involves the extraction and analysis of data from multimedia content such as images, videos, audio files, and animations. This paper explores the interconnected fields of text mining, hypertext/hypermedia mining, and multimedia data mining, highlighting the unique challenges and potential of this emerging field. Emphasizing the importance of new algorithms and tools, the study discusses innovative approaches like the multimedia cube for data analysis and the rapid growth of audio data mining. The paper also forecasts future trends in multimedia mining, including the standardization of data mining languages, the preparation of complex data, and the integration of new technologies like cloud and grid computing.
