As China’s digital economy and society development is accelerating with the advance of digital technology, the issues relating to land use in cities have attracted more attention. Using data that covers the period of 2013 to 2021 of Guangdong Province, this paper applies the fixed-effects model to explore the relationship between digital economy and efficient urban land use. The conclusion of the paper shows the fact that digital economy has high level of connections with the changes of industrial development. Expansion of digitalized economy has given rise to new formations in the layout of industrial towns: the supremacy of areas occupied by modern services and high-technology sectors andtheir influence on the dynamics of urban economic growth. Moreover, during the economic boom the ‘‘population’’ and the ‘‘financial development’’ are the harbingers. In this regard, this research helps to enhance an understanding of the impact of the digital economy on the efficiency of employment of urban territories and provides scientific guidance for the management and regulation of urban land use under the conditions of both urbanization and digitalization in Guangdong Province.
