Abstract

The fundamental transformation in information gathering and analysis is marked by the integration of Open-Source Intelligence (OSINT) methodologies in investigative journalism. In this article, the utilization of open-source intelligence in investigative journalism is examined as a substantial departure from conventional methodologies. It is demonstrated that journalists can uncover stories, verify facts, and further unravel complex sociopolitical structures by utilizing data that is publicly accessible. With this regard, it intends to share valuable insights with media scholars, journalists and practitioners who are interested in developing practices as well as examples of its application.
