Abstract

This study focused on analyzing the dynamic response of a portable power system using a hybrid 200 W PEMFC and 1000 W lithium-type battery and applied several loads of electrical appliances under constant load conditions and linear load step-up (5–100 W). The dynamic response analysis showed voltage undershoot and current overshoot for the fuel cell and battery during the transient response. The magnitudes of the fuel cell and battery increased with the current of the electrical device used. Improvements in FC-battery hybrid systems can be made based on an understanding of behavior and performance, thereby improving system efficiency.
